ABOUT THE ARTIST

Rachel is an established independent artist specialising in fine art limited editions, particularly hand-painted linocuts, reduction linocuts and original engravings. Rachel also works in pastel, drawing and painting.

Born in Gloucestershire and brought up on the north Cornish coast in England, Rachel then lived and studied art in London before coming to live in Sydney permanently in 1982. Rachel has close family connections to Australia - one grandmother having been born here and the other grandmother moving to Sydney in the 1960’s. Rachel lived and worked on Sydney’s Northern Beaches for several decades, before moving to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland for two years. She now lives and works at Randwick in Sydney’s East.

Rachel’s first solo exhibition was held in 1992 at the long established Blaxland Gallery in Sydney’s CBD. Since then Rachel has held numerous solo exhibitions and was represented by Robin Gibson Gallery, Sydney for 10 years.

Since 2007 Rachel has been an independent, self-represented artist, organising and holding solo exhibitions in different gallery spaces, most notably in the historic Palm House at the Sydney Royal Botanic Garden.

Rachel has also exhibited by invitation in public galleries such as The Sydney Mint, Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens Gallery, Noosa Regional Gallery, Manly Art Gallery and Museum and most recently, the Bayview Gallery at La Perouse Museum in Sydney’s East.

Rachel continues to maintain partnerships with galleries and institutions for exhibitions - both physical and online plus group shows and by invitation shows, such as ‘Botanica’ a biannual exhibition at the Sydney Royal Botanic Garden Gallery and an exhibition curated by the Art gallery of NSW at Manly Art Gallery & Museum called ‘Garden Variety.’
